Forming Families of Disciples

Welcome to the School of Religion at St. Michael Catholic Church!

Our mission is to partner with parents in forming young disciples of Jesus Christ through faith formation, sacramental preparation, prayer, worship, and service.

We offer faith formation opportunities for children and teens preparing for:

• First Reconciliation & First Holy Communion
• Confirmation
• OCIA for Teens (Order of Christian Initiation for Adolescents)

Share Your Faith. Inspire the Next Generation.

The School of Religion at St. Michael Catholic Church depends on the generous service of volunteers who are willing to share their time, talents, and faith with our children and youth. Whether you feel called to teach, mentor, serve at Mass, or support special events, there is a place for you in our ministry.

Opportunities to Serve

Catechists

Help form young disciples by teaching the Catholic faith and accompanying children and teens on their journey toward a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ.

Vacation Bible School (VBS) Group Leaders

Assist with our summer Vacation Bible School program by leading small groups, helping with activities, and creating a fun and faith-filled environment for children.

Youth Mass Ministry (5:00 PM Sunday Mass)

Youth and adults are invited to serve in various liturgical ministries, including:

  • Ushers

  • Lectors

  • Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion

  • Sacristans

  • Youth Choir and Musicians

Serving at Mass is a meaningful way to grow in faith while helping our parish worship community.

Retreat Volunteers & Parent Chaperones

Parents and adult volunteers are needed to assist during youth retreats, conferences, service projects, and special events throughout the year. Chaperones play an important role in creating a safe, welcoming, and faith-filled experience for our young people.

Safe Environment Requirements

The safety and well-being of our children and youth is a priority.

All adult volunteers (18 years of age and older) who serve in any ministry involving children or youth must complete the Archdiocese of Atlanta Safe Environment requirements, including:

  • Virtus Protecting God’s Children Training

  • Criminal Background Screening

  • Compliance with all Archdiocesan Safe Environment Policies

Become a Volunteer

Whether you can serve weekly, monthly, or for special events, your gifts can make a lasting impact on the lives of our children, teens, and families.

To learn more about volunteer opportunities or to begin the Safe Environment process, please contact the School of Religion Office.
